I'm reading up on the DB2 v7 to v8 migration process in preparation for upgrading my Solaris server. The db2imigr command looks relatively straightforward, but I am a little concerned about the MIGRATE DATABASE command. Does anyone know exactly what the MIGRATE DATABASE command does? Does database size or number of objects affect how long the database migration will take?
Although I'll definitely be testing this migration out on a test server, I don't have enough space to try it out on a copy of our prodution database, which is over 60GB in size. I'd appreciate it if anyone could give me a hint on what I'd be in for.
By the way, is there a v7 to v8 migration manual that I've overlooked? The only details I could get about this process came from the HTML Info Center for DB2.
