I could not find how to stop quickstarter, so I stopped soffice.bin and soffice.exe from within the task manager. I then attempted to start Base. I momentarily saw what I think you call a splash screen for Open Office. soffice.bin and soffice.exe are now runing again within proceses and so is sbase.exe. But there is no Base running within Applications.
