I am getting the same results using the MySQL 5.1.5 ODBC Connector downloaded
from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/5.1.html:

On Solaris, I can't enter any data (or at least what I try to enter is not
echoed)

On Linux, there is no problem.

So that is now 3 drivers that we have seen the problem with on Solaris (StarSQL,
IBM DB2 ODBC driver, & MySQL). I suppose there could be a problem with unixODBC
on solaris, but it's curious that it used to work fine with OO 2.2 on Solaris,
and the same source code (for unixODBC & StarSQL) has no problem on Linux.

Our engineer who looked at some ODBC traces said the following:

ODBCTest showed it returning correct values for SQL_DESC_CONCISE_TYPE, so I
don't know why OO also asks for another attribute on solaris only...

David says:
what is the extra attribute that it is asking for?
Erik says:
SQL_DESC_TYPE
Erik says:
But then later, I can also see if choosing to get the ID column to an SQL_C_CHAR
variable on solaris, and to an SQL_C_SHORT variable on Linux. I can't tell why.
