For me the import works as it should. On the third page of the import dialog you
have to choose the type of the field, the types in Base are independent from the
types in Calc. If your import will be a new table, don't forget to right click
on the field name of the primary key to set it to primary key. Without primary
key you cannot alter the table.
Please discuss in a mailing list or forum, how to import data in Impress.
