Not a DBI question, but ...

You can subtract 24 hours from the current epoch time and
go from there:

my $epoch = time();
my $yesterday_epoch = $epoch - (24 * 60 * 60);

There are cleaner ways.  Check out Date::Manip at CPAN for a 
really robust and flexible date computer/parser.
