Connection is busy

We've recently ported an application from MSaccess to SQL Server 7 and
now many programs are failing producing the following error:

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]
Connection is busy with results for another hstmt
(SQL-S1000)(DBD: st_execute/SQLExecute err=-1)

Should I use another ODBC driver?

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. The platform: perl 5.6.0, nt
4.0 sp 6 and sql server 7.
