Hello People,

I need to be able to query an Oracle 7.3.X Server running on an AIX
machine, I want to use Perl / DBI of course, running on Slackware Linux
7.1.

I have a problem, which way to go, DBD::Oracle or DBD::ODBC?, lets try
the "easy one" since i have used ODBC (not under Linux), then i find
out i have to install a Driver Manager and a Driver for Oracle.

Fine, i manage to install the openlink thingie, and when i run odbctest
i get the following message:

OpenLink: RPC: Remote system error
[OpenLink][ODBC]RPC: Remote system error, SQLSTATE=08004
[OpenLink][ODBC]Connection rejected by data source, SQLSTATE=08004

Something is wrong, so i re-check the DSN config, and it seems to be
ok, then i check a DSN at a windows client and i see the driver is for
Oracle Version is 7.3.X, And OpenLink gives drivers for 8.x versions
(at least for Linux). what can i do about this?

Then i tried the other way DBD::Oracle, when i start reading the README
files i see i need some ORACLE_HOME env. variable and some libraries
and other stuff, i go to Oracle's Site and i couldnt find what i am
looking for. Can someone give me a hand?

I am compleatly clueless

Regards,

Juan Jose
