Did you first install DBI. If not you must do so. Not sure about
Makefile.PL deleting the variable, never heard of such problem. Maybe you
are not setting it correctly?

Subject: Newbie problems DBD:Oracle

In my debian linux I've installed Oracle client to access an Oracle
server, then DBD:oracle (1.07) just downloaded from cpan site.

Trying to compile DBD:oracle by means of perl Makefile.pl the program
complains that
the ORACLE_HOME environment variable must be set.....
ABORTED
Now I've tried with export ORACLE_HOME=/dir/where/Oracle/is but it looks
as though Makefile.PL deletes the variable.

After reading the file readme.clients, I've been looking for the
oracle.mk file to no avail.

Please help me!

Ciao

Vittorio
