The main problem you might have with most Linux versions is that the Perl
you install as part of an installation kit (RPM with Redhat, I think) might
be compiled in an environment that isn't close enough to your local machine.
When you then try to compile DBI or DBD::Oracle, the compiler settings or
include files don't match.

The usual way around that is to build Perl on your local machine before
installing the modules you want.  You will need the Oracle client software
installed.

For more help, please ask on the list.  I am in a crunch at my day job and
can't spend any more time on this.
