Thanks...I just turned AutoCommit back on...Since I am not doing any INSERTS,UPDATES, Or DELTES I think it's safe.
As for do I need the transactions...obviously not since I have AutoCommit back on..it's just been awhile since I've written a Query only program and by force of habbit I had AutoCommit off... I'm no DBAdmin..so looking in Perl DBI to find what a definition of a Transaction was helped...but not much more than hearing the same definition from MicroS*** SQL help....I just had to think about it for a few minutes to realize I had AutoCommit OFF. I think I will try your eval method...it is similar but not identical to what I had based on "Perl DBI" by O'Reilly... (And whoever decided that ACID needed to be an Acronym for something to do with Databases must have been on it...) (And why is it, I usually find the answer right after I send off the question to the DBI list? Maybe it makes me stop looking at it long enough that I come back to it in a different light...)
