Just saying that performance is poor doesn't really give us enough to help you... You should check the queries and see if they are slow on their own. You might want to check network performance between the solaris box and the NT machines. AFAIK there aren't really any settings that can be changed in the freetds.conf file that might affect performance. Also, you might want to take this to the freetds mailing list, although I suspect that it's related to the SQL that you run...
