I have had success installing both Perl and DBD 1.12 on HPUX 11.0 with the gcc compiler. I installed the HPUX gcc binaries and libraries as an HPUX package, set the proper path and env variables, then installed Perl according to the instructions in DBD's README.hpux, except that since the +z flag doesn't work with gcc I simply didn't include it.
I do not know the implications of not using +z but I've been running several Perl daemons using DBD for 6 months now without any problems on HPUX 11.0 and Oracle 8i (8.1.7)64-bit. Here are some resources which you may find useful: http:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg06069.ht ml http://www.geocrawler.com/archives/3/183/2000/4/0/3660072/ Cheers Trevor van Dyk -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: February 26, 2002 4:31 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Still Problems installing in DBD We are still having problems in installing DBD-1.12 in HP-UX 11i, with Oracle 8.1.7 (64 bits). I think I've read everything about problems installing DBD, and we have tested all of the solutions we found. Specially the ones in the README.hpux, and in the dbi-users archives, and no one works. The best solution I found was to change gcc compiler and replace it by the cc one, directly from Config.pm and adding +z option in the ccflags and replace -fPIC by -pic. Then I test more things but I don't improve the results. Then I can do the make with a lot of warnings and if I do the make test, I have only a bit portion succesful. I think that because I don't know all the options to change in the Config.pm or in the Makefile.PL. I want to do something as a last resort. I hope someone can help us. Thanking you in advance.
