The way that I have been tackling this problem is that I create a "navigation bar" 
(looks like this: <<Prev 1 2 3 4 Next>>).  Each number is a link to the same script 
and each link specifies a start position or offset.  If this start number is passed 
into the script I add "limit number_to_return, offset" to the select statement.   This 
way only that subset of the data is return.  Walla!?
