I won't speak of the pure-perl DBI -- that's not my real issue, although it
would make installing on Win32 platforms somewhat easier.  I would say,
however, that bundling DBI with perl probably provides no huge benefit while
DBI is still developing and with some big(ish) things on the horizon.  I'd
rather wait until, say, array binding support at least has a solid
specification, for example.  That may not be soon -- but it's an important
step.
