Never mind. Strange. I must of had my grants set up diferently then
what DBD wanted. I shut down networking and removed the password for
root and then did the tests. Everything went through fine.

afters 2 1/2/ hours I finally installed the stupid thing.....

Now for some fun..

Sorry to bother you guys.

Subject: DBD-mysql-2.1018 installation on slackware.
Date: 21 Aug 2002 19:58:24 -0400

Hello everyone,

I am sure this question has been beaten to death lately but I am
having trouble instaling the new mysql pm on a slackware 8.1 box.

    I run
perl Makefile.PL --testuser=root --testpassword=$correctpasswd

but still I fail tests:
t/dbdadmin.........NOK 7Error while executing _DropDB: Access denied for
user: 'root@localhost' (Using password: NO)

All the tests that I fail appears that I have the wrong password for
root? But I don't. I was able to make and make test with the olde DBD
module with no problem but witht he newer one fails.

I have install the older module on other systems ( redhat, Solaris,
debian) but I have never had so many issues.

Are others having the same problem?

And the passowrd is right, I can administer all mysqladmin command
with password as well as enter mysql client.

Thanks for the help,

chad

The instructions said to use windows 98 or better, so I installed
slackware.
