Is your problem with dmake?
LIke this?

I tried making make=make in
C:/Perl/5.8.0/lib/MSWin32-x86/Config.pm, or
wherever and running the mingw make instead. It remade the
Makefile, and despite some error messages with make, and make
test, it seems to fetch and carrry.
But this is with Win2K.
