Hello dbi-users,

I want to use the DBD-ODBC module to connect to a W2K hosted MS SQL db, from
a Solaris 8 box.

But there are three things that I'm either unsure about, or would like some
clarification on ... can you help?

Question 1)

"Programming the Perl DBI" states that "For UNIX and variants, the iODBC
driver manager source is included in the iodbcsrc directory".

I've looked for this directory in the hierarchy that I've extracted from the
DBD-ODBC module, but it isn't there.
I've also looked for it in the hierarchy that I've extracted from the DBI
module, but it isn't there either.
So I've then run a "find . -name iodbsrc -print" on the solaris box, with a
pwd of /, and this hasn't found it either.

My question is where is it?

Question 2)

I need an ODBC driver.

I've found an evaluation "single tier driver - sql server lite" on the
openlinksw.com website.

My question is have I got the right thing for my environment?

Question 3)

The documentation for the above ODBC driver states that "my LD_LIBRARY_PATH
must point to the location of any shared libraries required by the Database
Vendors communication layer in order for the ... driver to load".
I've looked on www.microsoft.com, but can't find any information about what
(if any) shared libraries would be required on a Solaris 8 box, in order to
access data in a W2K hosted MS SQL database.

My question is do I need any such libraries, and if so, where do I find
them?

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Cheers,

Jon
