Using the latest DBI and DBD-AnyData, I'm finding that DBI PREPAREs are
taking much longer on a Solaris box.
My first guess would be that the box has an older version of DBD::File
(part of the DBD::CSV install). AnyData depends on DBD::File but I
haven't yet made it reinstall it. This would have a direct impact on
prepares since the older DBD::File doesn't cache the prepares. You
might test this yourself by just putting a copy of DBD::File from the
latest DBD::CSV in your own directory and using "use lib" to find it, or
more permanently just reinstall the latest DBD::CSV. I will be
breaking DBD::File out into its own distribution rather than as part of
DBD::CSV to avoid this kind of thing.
One note of import...while the DBD *apparently* runs under Solaris, the
tech (whom I've no direct access to) that installed the module on the
Solaris box indicated that there were "naming issues" during the install
but indicated that they shouldn't be an issue? What's he talking about?
*Should* I be concerned (silly question) about this and get more
information from him about the "naming issues"?
If the DBD::File thing doesn't fix the problem, I'd sure be interested.
Or is this a known
issue under Solaris?
No.
