I did a search for "dbi" on google a couple of weeks ago and it
returned these entries as the first few results:

    Perl Database Info
    www.symbolstone.org/technology/perl/DBI/

(www.symbolstone.org is now being domain squatted)

    Hermetic A - HermeticA - hermetica.com
    www.hermetica.com/

(www.hermetica.com is also being domain squatted)

    Dbi
Description: Official site includes documentation, mailing list information, and
demonstrations.
Category: Computers > Programming > Languages > Perl > Database
    dbi.symbolstone.org/

(dbi.symbolstone.org is being domain squatted)

    perl.com: A Short Guide to DBI [Oct. 22, 1999]
    www.perl.com/pub/1999/10/DBI.html

    DBI Mailing Lists
    www.fugue.com/dbi

(very old page with very out of date information)

Only one out of the top five is valid, and that's to a four year
old article (albeit a good one by MJD)! This is far from ideal.

Google is returning these results because lots of other web pages
contain those old links. Fortunately Google makes it easy to search
for the pages that contain these old links:

  http://www.google.com/search?q=link:www.symbolstone.org/technology/perl/DBI/
  http://www.google.com/search?q=link:www.hermetica.com
  http://www.google.com/search?q=link:dbi.symbolstone.org
  http://www.google.com/search?q=link:www.fugue.com/dbi

I'd appreciate it if you could look through the results of
those searches and help change any that can be changed.

Obviously you can ignore things like mailing list archives.
But there are lots of random web pages around the world that
have these old links. If you maintain any them please update them.
But even if you don't maintain any, perhaps you could send a polite
email to those who do asking that the old links be fixed.

All links should simply point to http://dbi.perl.org - that's
the DBI's home page and will always have upto date links on it.

Recently updated (partly to conform with the current perl.org 'house
style' and new maintainance tools) it contains all the key links to
DBI information and, over time, will grow to include more features.

Obviously I'd like dbi.perl.org to be the top result when searching
for "dbi"!

Please direct any questions/comments/suggestions etc about the
http://dbi.perl.org contents to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Please also join me in thanking Ilya Sterin for looking after it now,
and to Terrence Brannon for looking after it before him, and both for
putting up with a long transition. Thanks also to Robert Spier and
Ask Bjoern Hansen, the hardworking and largely unsung heroes behind
almost all the *.perl.org sites and services.

Tim.

p.s. Update: Ted Lemon has changed www.fugue.com/dbi to return a
redirect to dbi.perl.org now. But pages refering to www.fugue.com/dbi
still need fixing. I've emailed a few sites like perl.com that had
old links. Please check pages haven't been updated before emailing
the maintainers - and please be polite when you do email them!
Thank you!
