Thanks for your help. Your example helped me get my placeholders working. I missed that {} was needed as a parameter before my placeholder variable. Very cool!
If I can be of any help with the key lookup bug, just let me know. I look forward to getting your fix. FYI, I'm using DBD::DBM to store and lookup email addresses for verification in an smtp program.... as always speed is important. On a 20k record dbm, I'm guessing the lookups should take around : 0.001 and right now they're taking: 0.03 because the entire dbm is being read for the lookup.
