You can also install the Postgres ODBC driver and use DBD::ODBC (or DBD::ADO) instead of DBD::Pg. This does not require a compiler. It will work for most simple applications, but it does not allow you to use advanced Postgres-specific features (e.g. pg_prepare_now).
