Oracle's "UTF8" char set is old and incomplete. AL32UTF8 is the newer, more complete version. See http://tinyurl.com/y4qjd9 (oracle.com). "Oracle recommends that you switch to AL32UTF8 for full support of supplementary characters in the database character set." Regards, Philip
