: : : FEASTING OR FIGHTING? : : : **Are you focused on the battle raging around you? Would you like to talk to one of our mentors (http://mag.thelife.com/interactive/ask.html) about how you can feast in the presence of your enemies? : : : : Please join us for our Daily Devotional Chat (http://thelife.com/experience/chat/room/?channel=cwt-forum) today in our women's chat room at 10:30am est : : Recently I was listening to a download sermon on hearing God speak through the 23rd Psalm. : : One of the familiar sentences sprang out to me with new clarity, "He prepares a table for you in the presence of your enemies ...". : : God often speaks to me in pictures and immediately I saw a table waiting for me to sit down at. It was filled with fruit and cheese and whole grain breads and a full cup of wine. The table was on a path in a forested area where enemies lurked in the shadows. As Jesus pulled the chair out for me and invited me to dine, I pulled up to the table with full confidence that He was watching my back and I could feast on what was set before me. : : Often we hear how Christians are "under attack" and it is true that the spiritual battle heats up at times. We see it in various ways and it is easy to get focused on the battle that does rage around us. Yet God seemed to be saying to me that there are times when He calls us to simply feast on who He is and the depth and wonder of all His names reveal and to simply trust Him with the battle going on around us. : : Of course there are times when we are called to spiritual battle specifically and routinely we must be vigilant and put on the armor of God ... yet here God was saying that strengthening and fortification comes as we simply come to dine in His presence and feast on all that He is. : : As we stop to nourish our hearts with the depth of who He is and all that is available to us, we will be strengthened and equipped to go forward into new territory. We will be fortified with new understanding as to His power and His love for us and over us. We will be able to enter into His majesty with greater confidence and not cower in the face of the enemy. : : The Lord lays a feast on the table for us as He fights for us. Don't walk weary. Immerse yourself in all that He is. Take some time right now and ask God to reveal Himself in a fresh and new way to you. Meditate on the names of God and "Come and dine". http://truthmedia.com/training/attributes_god/ (http://truthmedia.com/training/attributes_god/) : : ~Lord, I come to You now and ask that today You would help me focus on feasting and not fighting. May I come away from time in Your presence with new strength and new confidence in Your greatness. In the strong name of Jesus I pray, amen. : : Question: Are you in need of some feasting time? Do you focus more on the battle than on the Lord? What name is He speaking to you through today? : : About the Author: Gail Rodgers (http://talk.thelife.com/experience/devotionalforwomen/authors/gail-rodgers/) : : Daily audio podcast: A second daily devotional, When You Open the Door (http://thelife.com/blogs/experience/devotionalformen/2008/11/05/when-you-open-the-door-2/), today on the Men's Devotional Blog : : : Comment on the devotional blog.
