Friday January 16, 2009 GOD'S HEARTBEAT
The LORD said, "I promise I'll come back to you next year at this time, and your wife Sarah will have a son.". As soon as they were outside, one of the angels said, "Run for your lives! Don't look behind you, and don't stop on the plain. Run for the hills, or you'll be swept away!". God said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I will show you." Genesis 18:10; 19:17; 22:2 Abram - Abraham, many religions know him and respect him as a great leader. He was. He deserves all respect given him, but he wasn't perfect. We do remember that he told some leaders that his precious wife was his sister in order to escape being discovered. It's okay to forget those things if you want to and just look at the good, because he did do a lot of good. list of 4 items 1. He left his hometown when the Lord told him to, even though it would have been more comfortable to stay. 2. He believed the Lord when He told him that his wife would bear him a son in his old age. 3. He did what the Lord said and rescued his nephew, Lot, from Gomorrah. 4. He was willing to sacrifice his beloved son, Isaac, when he felt that was what the Lord wanted him to do. list end How many of us would really go to those lengths for the Lord on blind faith? Not many. Yet, he did, and he was rewarded. I don't really think he cared about the rewards, he just wanted to obey His Lord - and he did. Yeah Abraham! Father, I know I haven't been an Abraham, too often I've been a Lot. It's so easy to just fall in with the crowd and go along with what everyone else is doing. Of course, that hasn't been recently, I don't have any crowds around me, but I do know how easy that can happen.I remember it very well. I pray for those who are tempted and tested on a daily basis on their jobs or at school. Help us all, Father. One more thing Lord, please be with our children that continue to wander around out there with no thought of You. Please lead them to be Prodigals.
