affected by it are those following the bleeding edge of rc's and CVS, folks

Release candidates are not supposed to be bleeding edge! I have been wanting to say this for a while, but I think dbmail misuses terms in it's release process. We have been in RC mode for months on end, and during this period we have continued to add features and make major changes to almost every part of dbmail. Lots of projects wouldn't let these types of invasive changes be made even after the 1st beta.

I don't think we should call anything a release candidate until we think it really is a candidate for release, meaning feature freeze long since passed, all known bugs squashed, ready for release barring newly exposed problems.
