That's very high. Use such high values only if you trust dbmail-imapd not to suffer from memory leaks :-)
I have overseen this and my server had a problem with 7000 Imap connections
Oh? What kind of problems? I use *low* values for max connections (like 10 or 20), so imap daemons die often, to be respawned by the parent process.
