Yeah, I understand perfectly that priority will be put on the newer version.
Hopefully there will be very few people like me locked into version 1.2.6.

One other thing you'll need to remove is the dbmail-config man page :)

Oh - and if you're interested, I'm offering to proof read the docs that come
with dbmail - there are few odd little mistakes of spelling and grammar
present in 1.2.6 which may or may not be fixed in 2.
