Well, mailbox2dbmail also accepts maildir format.
My advice is to try mailbox2dbmail and if it doesn't work, then use
formail, and instead of "mbox" put "maildir" (do "man formail" in your
linux shell). In my case, mailbox2dbmail didn't work because my mbox
file had some kind of error that it couldnt parse, not because the
file was huge. I found some references about people using
mailbox2dbmail that uploaded more than 1GB files to the database.
Using formail "saved me", but it changed the received date in the
uploaded emails.
Test both of them and decide!
