But then, who uses freebsd :-)
I take it you are kidding, but humor me a semi-serious response:
This is one DBMail user who uses FreeBSD with DBMail for serious
corporate clients. I am very thankful for DBMail, since it has neatly
solved some problems for me. In the future I plan for it to become part
of the backbone of all my systems.
There is this perception among the Linux users that FreeBSD is sort of a
marginal platform. Actually, you will find that FreeBSD may be marginal
as a *personal* OS, but it is very heavily used for corporate
internet/network services. For example Verio, the largest hosting
facility in the world, uses FreeBSD, and that is only one hosting
facility out of many (think about Pair.com, Offmyserver.com, etc...).
DBMail is an ideal system on which to build sophisticated mail servers,
especially with the capabilities of PostgreSQL, which can use views,
triggers, and procedures to tie in email with any kind of complex
business logic wanted.
Short version, if you want DBMail to really get some serious, solid use,
you want to court the FreeBSD crowd. We may not get as much press as
Linux, but there is a surprisingly large amount of "underground"
corporate use.
...and thanks again for DBMail ;-)

Rick Morris
