Thanks Kevin,

But... I can't see any mention of a dbmail-lmtpd socket file in your
postfix configuration.

I'm runnig Dbmail just like you say, but I don't think it's using
a socket connection between postfix and dbmail-lmtpd.
Hmmm, you are right. So when I'm sort of learning as I go along here. I have always had Cyrus with the unix:/path/to/socket

So based on that I would guess that you're syntax below would be right. Def would need to be in the postfix path if in chroot'ed.

Should
mailbox_transport = dbmail-lmtp:localhost:24
be somthing like
mailbox_transport = dbmail-lmtp:unix:/var/spool/postfix/dbmail/lmtpd.sock

I'm starting to think that dbmail-lmtpd 2.0.10 does not support
a socket connection but maby dbmail-lmtpd 2.1.xx does.
I'm running 2.1.xx. I haven't had this working using the socket yet. When I swapped out the unix:socket syntax it didn't work. So I guess not there yet.

I'll see if I can get the socket working on this end.

Thanks Kevin,

I can't see in the Dbmail INSTALL file how to configure postfix
for a dbmail-lmtp socket file.

Yup, NP.

So three steps:

1) Make sure the dbmail-lmtp is started

   vi /etc/default/dbmail

   START_LMTPD=true

Start dbmail, the new "true" setting in defaults will start dbmail-lmtp
   /etc/init.d/dbmail start

2) Setup Postfix master.cf file, this setups up the dbmail-lmtp w/in Postfix and
turns off dns lookups that seem to cause problems

vi /etc/postfix/master.cf

dbmail-lmtp     unix    -       -       n       -       -       lmtp
   -o disable_dns_lookups=yes

3) Setup main.cf file. This sets the transport to send mail through the
dbmail-lmtp host:port

vi /etc/postfix/main.cf

mailbox_transport = dbmail-lmtp:localhost:24

Give that a try... should get thing started for you.

Can you help.

Hi,

I'm using dbmail 2.0.10 and I was wondering If postfix
could talk to dbmail via a socket file.

If yes... I don't see any parameters in the dbmail config file
under LMTP
Yes, Paul was just mentioning that somehow it was dropped from the conf
file.

You can just add it back in

[LMTP]
SOCKET=/var/run/dbmail/lmtpd.sock

One thing to note.. if you have Postfix setup in chroot, you will likely
have to change this to something like:

/var/spool/postfix/var/run/dbmail/lmtpd.sock

And be sure to have your perms set right
