You're doing it wrong
to use auxprop you don't need to put nothing in /etc/pamd./smtp
you need just to put in smtpd.conf (u have to see where it lives in your
system, in debian it's in /etc/postfix/sasl/smtpd.conf)
for that file i have (i don't use realm):
#log_level: 7
pwcheck_method: auxprop
auxprop_plugin: sql
mech_list: plain login cram-md5 digest-md5
sql_engine: mysql
sql_hostnames: 127.0.0.1
sql_user: user
sql_passwd: pwd
sql_database: postfix
sql_select: select password from smtp_auth_users where username='%u' and
status='true'
# @%r

OK, I've tried it in /etc/pam.d/smtp, but I don't know with mech I
should enter:
saslauthd -a auxprop
is not working, although I installed all cyrus-sasl packages:
# rpm -qa|grep cyrus
cyrus-sasl-2.1.22-28
cyrus-sasl-ldap-auxprop-2.1.22-27
cyrus-sasl-saslauthd-2.1.22-27
cyrus-sasl-crammd5-2.1.22-28
cyrus-sasl-otp-2.1.22-28
cyrus-sasl-digestmd5-2.1.22-28
cyrus-sasl-plain-2.1.22-28
cyrus-sasl-devel-2.1.22-28
cyrus-sasl-gssapi-2.1.22-28
cyrus-sasl-sqlauxprop-2.1.22-27
How to do it? It's openSUSE 10.2, if that's important...
