But isn't this information already available in the mail log?

The other problem I see, is that the structure of the information in these log tables is going to have a lot of people voicing their opinions of what fields need to be included. To satisfy everyone's needs it is going to have so much data that our mail database could end up having a large percentage of it for statistics.

I agree being able to make a simple select on a database can give you information you need, but at what expense in cpu/disk time and storage space? This needs to be carefully considered by the developers.

This is why the log table for login/logout, and for received emails are so
important, I think is one of the best reasons to have this two log tables.
