I've installed the same setting on another machine : debian lenny 64, dbmail, squirrelmail, postfix postgresql, etc. Then I created the custom dbmail packages according to your guidelines, and installed it over the old ones. Unfortunately, there's no striking differences between a search on my production system, and a search on the test one. (5-10 minutes at best), needless to say any other action on the mail system is stuck/slowed to death meanwhile (like logging with another account, opening an imap folder, an email) It may be a normal thing since dbmail dev priorities are db integrity and stability, but I have to know for sure because if my setting isn't faulty then I need to scale up to another mail system where searching through Gigs woudl take a few seconds.
