We were using dbmail 2.2.8rc1 for quite sometime and recently upgraded to
2.2.17 because our production machine is being replaced and it "seemed
sensible" to set up the new machine with the latest version of dbmail rather
than what we were used to.

As part of that cycle we upgraded the production machine to 2.2.17 when an
opportunity arose.

We've suddenly noticed (i.e. we didn't test it before) that the auto reply
system has stopped working for us with 2.2.17, although it was working fine
with 2.2.8rc1. Currently we are using this old server which was upgraded
from 2.2.8rc1.

I should probably say that although the auto replies was working fine (in
2.2.8rc1) "as far as I was concerned" the replies were actually being
addressed by the senders address i.e. if joe.bloggs@domain sent an e-mail to
iamonholiday@domain the autoreply messages appeared to originate from
joe.bloggs@domain - this is not something I had the time to worry about!

In the dbmail.log we now see the following errors whenever an auto reply
would be generated.

Message:[message]
dbmail-message.c,dbmail_message_get_header_addresses(+583): mail address
parser error parsing header field
Message:[delivery] pipe.c,send_reply(+382): no valid destination

The dbmail_auto_replies table has not been altered in anyway and contains
the 4 field with valid entries. Clearly "auto_reply = yes" is in the
dbmail.conf

Does anyone have any suggestions on what may have gone wrong? I'm tempted
to assume that the method for using automatic replies changed since 2.2.8rc1
and I've not noticed!

Regards

Daniel Schütze
