Hi Kurt,
Their was an issue with the default port 80 endpoint, which has now
been resolved enabling you to use either again ie http://dbpedia.org/
sparql or http://dbpedia.org:8890/sparql
Please confirm this works for you ...

Yes it was working this weekend using the Jena API.
What is the query you are running and does it run successfully when
run directly against the dbpedia endpoint (if possible) ?
It seems to run fine in the virtuoso web interface. i'm just using
a very simple test query:
"select distinct ?image where {<http://dbpedia.org/resource/AC/DC>
<http://dbpedia.org/property/img> ?image}"

The SPARQL endpoint at http://dbpedia.org/sparql (or http://
dbpedia.org:8890/sparql) are accessible currently. The DBpedia
server was being updated earlier today and thus may not have been
accessible for a short period of time, but all should be back
online now ...
