Hi all,

I'm said author of dbpedia lookup, and would like to just jump in to clarify
things a bit.

Firstly, dbpedia lookup has not been replaced by uberblic search. I'm not
actively developing the dbpedia lookup anymore and am not in charge of the
hosting, but the DBpedia team was still hosting and maintaining the service
after my departure as lead developer of DBpedia last year.

Uberblic is my new service, and its search API is much more powerful than
dbpedia lookup ever was (it's kind of the successor project for me).

You get live Wikipedia data via Uberblic, you can use a richer (but still
very easy) query language, and results include links to equivalent entities
in other web data APIs as well. See [1] for a discussion around the topic of
label matching in dbpedia.

But I didn't shut down or replace lookup.dbpedia.org.
I'll have to leave it to the DBpedia team to comment on the issue of
downtime as they know better than me what's going on.

Cheers,
Georgi

Gaining the trust of online customers is vital for the success of any company
that requires sensitive data to be transmitted over the Web. Learn how to
best implement a security strategy that keeps consumers' information secure
and instills the confidence they need to proceed with transactions.
