My understanding is that when Bill Graham moved from the Fillmore Auditorium in late 1968 to the venue called Carousel Ballroom, he renamed it to Fillmore West. So all the shows, for instance, beginning in 1969 at this location are and should be referenced as Fillmore West.

The gig doesn't appear in the list of Fillmore and other Bill Graham-produced San Francisco and Bay Area music events in the booklet of the Fillmore: The Last Days album (Fillmore label, distributed by Columbia, Z3X 31390, released in 1972). And it had an amateurish promotional poster (reproduced in Ben Fong-Torres's Grateful Dead Scrapbook [Chronicle Books, 2009], p.29; it's also seen at <http://www.dead.net/tags/poster>, erroneously(?) dated 1970 and noting the venue as Carousel Ballroom. The top of the poster reads BENEFIT FOR AIR WAVES PEOPLE'S RADIO. (Others on the bill: Shades of Joy [which may have included Martin Fierro; see <http://www.redtelephone66.com/2010/08/shades-of-joy-shades-of-joy-1969/>, Gestalt Fool Theatre Family, New Generation Singers, American Indian Dancers.) Noted at the bottom: Tickets available from the box office or from sisters and brothers on the block. (Tickets were $2.50; was that a dollar less than what might have been a typical Grateful Dead-headlining Fillmore West ticket-price of the time?) Bill Graham may have provided use of the venue for the benefit (and use of old, deadwood tickets whose blank reverse sides were then stamped VALID MAR. 3 1971 ONLY Airwaves Benefit see <http://www.psilo.com/dead/showshow.php?band=1&date=1971-3-3>, but not, I think, the use of the name Fillmore West.
