Hello,

For some time I have been having trouble getting the Sarge release of X to work
on my Amiga
2000 w/clgen video board. I hope the following additional information will
give someone
here an 'a ha!' moment that can lead me to a solution.

I reinstalled the x-window-system package, after having removed all the x* and
related
packages (purged).

When X attempts to start after a reboot, it does not start, and when X is
started via the
shell (user root), I get the following error message:

> Error: Can't find file "pc/usa1" for symbols include
> Exiting
> Abandoning symbols file "default"

Note that this error does not cause the server to shut down when run from a
logged in shell
via the startx command, but it does seem to cause the server to shut down when
starting from
the boot process.

The above error is generated when I use the following for the keyboard segment
of my
XF86Config-4:

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
        Driver "keyboard"
        Option "CoreKeyboard"
        Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
        Option "XkbModel" "amiga"
        Option "XkbLayout" "usa1"
        Option "CustomKeycodes"
EndSection

Note that the above is hand-modified, as the package configuration will now
allow you to
select "Option "CustomKeycodes" which is needed to get uppercase characters.

I did notice that there is no item for "amiga" or "usa1" in the
/etc/X11/xkb/symbols
directory.

Complete error logs and config files are available at:

Suggestions?

Thanks,
