Thank you. I've extracted the binary kernel from the http://people.debian.org/~cts/debian-m68k/linux-image/linux-image-2.6.16-1-mac_2.6.16-6_m68k.deb file. I have booted it on my Quadra 700 with Penguin and "root=/dev/sda7" as command line. Unfortunately, it fails with a kernel panic. Here's the output: esp0: disconnected sd 0:0:1:0: scsi: Device offlined - not ready after error recovery sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline device sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline device EXT2-fs error (device sda7): ext2_get_inode: unable to read inode block - inode=49153, block=98308 input: ADB keyboard is /class/input/input1 sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline device sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline device sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline device sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline device sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline device sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline device sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline device sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline device sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline device Warning: unable to open an initial console. sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline device EXT2-fs error (device sda7): ext2_get_inode: unable to read inode block - inode=81921, block=163844 sd 0:0:1:0: rejecting I/O to offline devic EXT2-fs error (device sda7): ext2_get_inode: unable to read inode block - inode=180229, block=360452 Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to the kernel On my second attempt, it failed another way.
