That's exactly my point: I can make the speakup shortcut be able to just raise the volume to the maximum that the hardware supports. But then « you cannot tune it with a mixer any more since espeakup will try to override it over and over. » So the question is raised: are people fine with the volume *granularity* that the speakup shortcut provide ? Please answer the specific question I ask, otherwise we can't progress. Samuel
