Hi, Yes when this mini.iso image was finished downloading everything as
I just selected web server and ssh server and standard system after the
reboot espeakup was working normally. One thing that was not carried
across is during the installation for testing I did set the volume using
the speakup shortcut keys to 9 and found that the volume was still at I
think the default was 5. What was patched in this mini.iso to have the
espeakup working and as I have the debian-installer source downloaded if
I wish to make changes to it and not have the udebs remove my changes
like what you did to fix this issue how do I go about this? Could the
default boot target on a custom image be changed to automatically or
after about 4 seconds start the talking version of the installer? Nick

That installation without a graphical desktop came up to the text login
screen talking with espeakup running.
So you mean that you didn't get the volume issue, while in the same
conditions but with the non-patched image, you would not?
what make target would I use in the build directory of the
debian-installer source and is there a way to build just an image that
talks automatically when it is booted?
That doesn't exist yet.
