I am trying to get Debian running on a cortex-a9 tablet and got pretty far already, however on my journey away from android i got in contact with something interresting. "twrp" (Team Win Recovery Project), it is more or less a android-installer for custom roms. i don't know if this could be adapted/ modified for debian but in my opinion it's worth to take a look. the code apears to be mainly in cpp.
