Grrrr. Yes, I can confirm, I just checked. It does not make me happy at all (in part because we have recently had *two* uploads of raspi-firmware accepted to Stable because of a much related issues). I can confirm it happens in a RPi4, which has some bits of "experimentalness" in it. At least it is _not_ happening in my RPi0 (and will now check on the 2, just to be sure) - So most probably the issue is not present in the raspi-firmware (raspi3-firmware, really) package present in stable. And it narrows down what I need to look into. Thanks for your report!
