Mmmkay, that's trivial enough. :-) So:

# linuxrc
mount -t ramfs none /mnt
# copy whole root fs in
# fully populate /mnt/dev, if devfs not used
pivot_root /mnt /initrd
# Cause what exactly the root is to this process
# is slighlty confused right now.
cd /
freeramdisk
