export another var
add check_download target. on i386 modules.tgz needs to be build before root.bin, but 
driverdisk.sh doesn't try to do any downloading, only rootdisk.sh.  Therefore when 
starting from a clean slate driversdisk.sh doesn't have all the debs that it needs, it 
fails.  Now the check target on i386 downloads all the debs that it will need.  
Nothing actually depnds on 'check' as far as I know, hopefully people will read the 
docs and use it.
