Wouldn't it be better if explained somewhere in the package itself? BTW, I humbly think that downloading the .deb as stated in http://www.debian.org/releases/testing/i386/apds03.html.en is worse than downloading the .tar.gz from the same place and where to download it is not stated, just linked, and people using the document printed will get lost.
I can even do the changes myself, but I prefer "official maintainers" to do the theirselves.
