no need for annoying <blink>
but killing the full progress dialog and replacing with a simple
pleaseWaitBox with: "Installing base system, please wait..." would
suffice. the full progress dialog should also go away when extracting
the base, since extracting packages is not determinitive either.
there really isn't any way to create a progress dialog for that stage
since dpkg is not determinative.
