Oh yes, there's one more thing I found slightly confusing during the (expert) installation.
After I have set some partitions to be used as physical volumes for
encryption in the "Partition disks" screen, I select "Configure
encrypted volumes". In the resulting screen, there is a choice to
encrypt some volumes, which offers some partitions (including physical
ones).
I'm not sure what it's offering to do, but in any case it seems
duplicative of what I had the opportunity to do in the "Partition
disks" screen, and not doing it seems to result in just a fine system
with exactly the properties I want from it.
