If there are multiple NICs, then it would be nice to show which one
(if any) is connected, and default to that NIC.

   Your system has multiple network interfaces. Choose the one to use as
   the primary network interface while installing Debian.

                     eth1: Ethernet or Fast Ethernet

would become;

                     eth0: Ethernet or Fast Ethernet
                  -> eth1: Ethernet or Fast Ethernet (active) <-
