Package: iso-scan Version: 1.43 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
I have a multi-boot usb drive that I keep multiple linux iso's on. I set up the debian installer on my drive using the kernel and initrd from here: http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/installer- amd64/current/images/hd-media/ And the netinstall image from here: http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/wheezy_di_rc1/amd64/iso-cd/debian-wheezy-DI- rc1-amd64-netinst.iso After booting and answering the first questions, the installer reported that no suitable kernel modules were found on the iso image. After checking the syslog, I can see that iso-scan selects my Ubuntu 10.04 amd64 iso rather than the Debian testing amd64 iso. If I rename the file to 'ubuntu-10.04.4-alternate-amd64.bak' the the installer works properly. Here is a section from the syslog: Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Mounted /dev/sdb1 for first pass Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Found ISO ./ubuntu-10.04.4-alternate-amd64.iso on /dev/sdb1 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 23.695446] ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 23.708217] ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Detected ISO with 'lucid' (lucid) distribution Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Detected ISO with distribution 'lucid' (lucid) Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Debian ISO ./ubuntu-10.04.4-alternate-amd64.iso usable Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Found ISO ./debian_install_amd64/debian-wheezy-DI- rc1-amd64-netinst.iso on /dev/sdb1 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 23.782356] ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 23.791166] ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Detected ISO with 'testing' (wheezy) distribution Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Detected ISO with distribution 'testing' (wheezy) Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Debian ISO ./debian_install_amd64/debian-wheezy-DI- rc1-amd64-netinst.iso usable Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Found ISO ./debian_install_i386/debian-squeeze-di- beta2-i386-netinst.iso on /dev/sdb1 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 23.850381] ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 23.858836] ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Debian ISO not usable, skipping Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Found ISO ./linux-mint12/linuxmint-12-gnome-dvd- 32bit.iso on /dev/sdb1 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 23.933263] ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 23.941894] ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Debian ISO not usable, skipping Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Found ISO ../lubuntu111032/lubuntu-11.10-desktop-i386.iso on /dev/sdb1 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 24.020329] ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 24.029347] ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Debian ISO not usable, skipping Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Found ISO ../ubuntu120432/ubuntu-12.04-desktop-i386.iso on /dev/sdb1 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 24.109133] ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 24.118280] ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Debian ISO not usable, skipping Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Found ISO ../ubuntu_linuxcnc/ubuntu-10.04-linuxcnc3-i386.iso on /dev/sdb1 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 24.195153] ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 24.201029] ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Debian ISO not usable, skipping Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Found ISO ../xubuntu10432/xubuntu-10.04-desktop-i386.iso on /dev/sdb1 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 24.265221] ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3 Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 24.270557] ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Debian ISO not usable, skipping Feb 25 21:31:53 iso-scan: Failed mounting /dev/sdb1 (from /dev/sdb1) as an ISO image Feb 25 21:31:53 kernel: [ 24.528336] FAT-fs (sda): utf8 is not a recommended IO charset for FAT filesystems, filesystem will be case sensitive!
